CoderPad AI Policy

At CoderPad, we use artificial intelligence to help technical teams run better, fairer, and faster technical interviews and assessments. We believe you should always know when AI is involved, what it does, and how your data is handled. This policy sets out where AI is used across CoderPad and the commitments and safeguards we apply. It applies to our AI features generally, including features we add over time.

1. Our AI principles

  • Human decisions. AI is never used to make an automated hiring decision. It supports human interviewers and recruiters, who remain responsible for evaluation and decisions.
  • Transparency. When AI is used, we tell you. Content produced by our AI features is labelled as AI-generated within the product.
  • Purpose limitation. AI is used only to support technical interviewing and assessment, and the related recruiter and support workflows around them.
  • Data protection by design. Other than webcam proctoring, our AI features are not designed to process personal data (see section 4).
  • Regulatory Compliance. We aim to comply with the AI-related regulations that apply to us, including the EU AI Act, and we adapt this policy and our safeguards as those requirements evolve.

2. Where we use AI

AI supports human reviewers across CoderPad, it does not replace them. Rather than list individual features (which change as the product evolves), the table below describes the purposes AI is used for. Any AI feature we add will fall within one of these purposes, and this policy applies to it.

  • Interview and assessment assistance. In-product assistants that interviewers or candidates can interact with to help facilitate a session or work through a coding exercise. Interactions are saved to the session record.
  • Summaries and notes. Generating written transcripts, summaries, and outlines of what happened during an interview or assessment, so teams can capture, review, and audit sessions.
  • Content generation for recruiters. Helping recruiters create assessment content, such as questions and follow-ups used to evaluate a candidate’s knowledge.
  • Assessment integrity. Optional anti-cheat capabilities, such as webcam proctoring, that analyse activity to flag potential integrity issues. This is the only purpose designed to process personal data (candidate images).
  • Product support. Assistants that answer common how-to questions about the CoderPad platform, using answers generated from our public documentation.

3. AI providers we use

AI processing is performed by established third-party providers. Depending on the feature, these currently include OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Meta, Microsoft, Amazon Web Services, and Intercom. The specific provider depends on the feature and may evolve as we adopt newer, better-performing models.

4. Personal data

Other than webcam proctoring, CoderPad’s AI features are not designed to receive personal data, and we treat them as such under applicable data protection regulations. Any user who chooses to enter personal data into these features (for example, in a prompt or during a conversation) does so under their own responsibility.

Two features can involve personal data by their nature:

  • Webcam proctoring processes candidate images by design. These images are subject to a specific retention policy with automated deletion.
  • Interview audio transcripts may capture personal information if it is spoken aloud during the call.
  • For all other AI features, inputs and outputs are designed to consist of prompts, code, and generated content only, not personal data.

5. How we handle your data

  • Your data is not used to train AI models. Our agreements with our AI providers are configured so that prompts, inputs, and outputs sent through CoderPad are not used to train or improve their models.
  • Limited provider retention. AI providers may retain data for a short period, typically up to 30 days, only for abuse monitoring and trust and safety purposes, after which it is deleted on their side, in line with their enterprise policies.
  • Where results are stored. AI outputs generated for a customer account (such as summaries or transcripts) are stored in CoderPad’s own systems so they remain available to that customer inside the product.
  • Exercising your data protection rights. Where an AI feature has processed personal data, requests to access, correct, or delete that data are handled through the same process as any other data privacy request under the GDPR and other applicable data protection regulations, as described in our Privacy Policy.

6. AI-generated content

Content produced by these features (summaries, transcripts, generated questions, assistant responses) is generated with the help of AI and is labelled as such within the product. AI-generated content can contain inaccuracies and is intended to assist, not replace, human judgement.

7. Your controls

  • Optional by design. Most AI features are optional and, where applicable, operate on an opt-in basis.
  • Customer controls. Organization administrators can enable or disable most AI features directly in their CoderPad organization settings. For the remaining features, our team can enable or disable them on request.

8. Information for candidates

If you are taking an interview or assessment on CoderPad, the AI features above may be used by the organization evaluating you, at their choice. AI is used to assist the human reviewers, not to make an automated decision about you.
