### [Research Supports Moving On from Whiteboard Interviews](https://coderpad.io/blog/interviewing/interview-with-chris-parnin-mahnaz-behroozi/)

TL:DR - whiteboard interviews are terrible and measure the wrong thing so you’re definitely missing out on quality talent. We sat down with NC State researchers, Chris and Mahnaz. Here's what they had to say.

### [Technical Interviews Are Pretty Terrible. You Could Help Them Be Better.](https://coderpad.io/blog/interviewing/technical-interviews-are-pretty-terrible/)

This past week, I got to have a great conversation about technical interviews with Chris Hodge of Kinkor Consulting (thanks for hosting me, Chris!). We were, of course, in total agreement - whiteboard interviews suck.

### [Take-Home Projects Are the New Resume. Here’s Why.](https://coderpad.io/blog/interviewing/take-homes-are-the-new-resume/)

Whiteboard interviews are dead; putting candidates in a cramped room with strangers breathing down their necks is not a recipe for finding the perfect talent. We can create a better hiring process. I know it and you know it too (otherwise you wouldn’t be reading this blog, right?). So how can we make it better, especially now, when it’s clear change is long overdue? It starts with prioritizing skills over degrees from fancy universities, code quality over work experience at big-name companies, and exceptional thinking over powerful personal connections. It starts with getting away from the resumes that help companies focus on the wrong things in favor of prioritizing the right way to assess candidates.

### [Five Best Practices for Remote Interviewing](https://coderpad.io/blog/interviewing/five-best-practices-for-remote-interviewing/)

Ah, the remote interview. To some, it’s a welcome time-saver, while to others it’s an awkward audition made worse by an inevitable lag or mic delay. Could you be doing them better? For most of us, the answer is a resounding ‘yes.’ But whether we like it or not, let’s face it: Remote interviewing is here to stay. And even when an employer and prospective employee may be several time zones apart, there shouldn’t need to be a low bar for getting to know and evaluating new team members.

### [SQL Interview Questions](https://coderpad.io/blog/interviewing/sql-interview-questions/)

How to Structure SQL Interview Questions If you’ve ever interviewed technical talent, you know that the pressure is on to accurately assess candidates’ skills, experience and fit. A technical interview is the classic way to jumpstart this process. But is your approach one that gets you the answers you need while also putting your best foot forward to top candidates? To get the inside perspective on running a brilliant SQL-focused technical interview, and evaluating candidates, we had a chat with two experts: Wendy Lu , Growth Analytics Lead at Figma , and Jonathan Geggatt , VP of Engineering at CoderPad (and formerly Head of Data at Airbnb).
