### [CSS Pseudo-Classes: The Must-Have, the Unusual, and the Experimental](https://coderpad.io/blog/development/css-pseudo-classes/)

Pseudo-classes are CSS features that allow us to do pretty amazing things when it comes to stylizing our content. Some common uses are applying styles to: Pseudo-classes themselves are keywords that we add after our selector. In this post, we’ll deep dive into pseudo-classes: the must-have, the unusual, and even the brand-new experimental ones!

### [An Overview of Five CSS Math Functions](https://coderpad.io/blog/development/an-overview-of-five-css-math-functions/)

CSS math functions are one of the powerful features of CSS. They are special CSS values that enable front-end developers to perform mathematical calculations and basic arithmetic directly within their CSS stylesheets. CSS has five math functions that allow you to perform basic arithmetic operations—addition, subtraction, multiplication, comparison, and division on CSS numeric units such as numbers (for example, 10, 0.8, -6), lengths ( px , rem , vw ), and percentages (50%), with the ability to interpolate between these units. These functions enable the browser to dynamically compute and update the value for any CSS property these functions are passed to.

### [Introduction to Smart Contracts and Solidity](https://coderpad.io/blog/development/introduction-to-smart-contracts-and-solidity/)

A smart contract is an agreement between one or more parties written as code. The participants define the rules and conditions between them before drafting the contract. When the conditions established beforehand in the contract are fulfilled between the participants, the contract takes its complete form, and each party must fulfill its obligation. These contracts are deployed on a blockchain to be executed. The deployment and execution of these contracts cost fees that are paid to miners.

### [Everything You Need to Know to Map SQL Tables to REST Endpoints in Python](https://coderpad.io/blog/development/everything-you-need-to-know-to-map-sql-tables-to-rest-endpoints-in-python/)

The backbone of back-end programming is the act of sending, receiving, and manipulating data. The two most common ways of interacting with backend data are SQL (“Structured Query Language”) and REST (“REpresentational State Transfer”) APIs. SQL is the method that many servers use to store their data, while REST is a method of transferring that data to and from the client. Of course, there are many ways to store and send data, but these are the most common and are widely supported.

### [What You Never Learned about JavaScript Functions](https://coderpad.io/blog/development/what-you-never-learned-about-javascript-functions/)

Functions are weird . Consider the following code: Seems straightforward enough, right? We’re creating a function sayHello , then immediately calling it. Now, what about the following code: This “intuitive” code comes loaded with assumptions and processes that we regularly take for granted: While you could get away with never knowing the answers to these questions, being a great developer often involves understanding how the tools we use actually work – and JavaScript functions are no exception.

### [Dev Discussions: How to Reduce your Angular Bundle Size with Google Developers Expert Santosh Yadav](https://coderpad.io/blog/development/reduce-angular-bundle-size-with-santosh-yadav/)

If you ever have questions about Angular, Santosh Yadav is the person to ask. Not only is he an Auth0 ambassador and a GitHub Star , but he’s currently certified as a Google Developers Expert for Angular. Santosh jumped into the deep end with Angular early in his career—building apps, teaching others, and attending conferences in his spare time. That dedication to Angular worked out, as he’s now a leading MEAN stack trainer and developer, with his own popular Angular-focused YouTube channel to boot.

### [Everything You Need to Know about All 11 CSS Filters](https://coderpad.io/blog/development/everything-you-need-to-know-about-all-11-css-filters/)

CSS, the language for visually styling elements on the web, has evolved to include features that can change an element’s visual effects in a website’s source code – freeing you from the need for graphical and photo editing software. Enter CSS filters. CSS filters allow developers to alter an HTML element (usually an image) appearance before it gets displayed in the browser. It provides various operations that can be performed on an element to change its visual properties — for example, increasing the brightness of an image, enhancing an element’s color intensity, adding a blur effect, and much more.

### [Building a Better Future for Data Teams with Live Technical Interviews](https://coderpad.io/blog/interviewing/building-a-better-future-for-data-teams-with-live-technical-interviews/)

How should data teams work smarter in the future — and can better technical interviews help them do it? These were just some of the many thought-provoking questions I recently talked through with Boris Jabes of Census on his podcast, The Sequel Show . We covered everything from the overlap between interviewing and creating collaborative tech organizations to what a perfect KPI for data teams might look like. Whether you’re a data analyst, an engineering manager, or are just interested in the changing face of interviewing, there’s something for everyone in this conversation. Here are some of the highlights.

### [Dev Discussions: Everything You Need to Know about Monorepos with Juri Strumpflohner of Nrwl](https://coderpad.io/blog/development/monorepos-with-juri-strumpflohner-of-nrwl/)

As the Director of Developer Experience for Nrwl (pronounced “narwhal,” like the sea creature), Juri Strumpflohner knows a thing or two about monorepos. Nrwl is the company behind Nx , perhaps the most popular monorepo management tool. Juri’s job is to ensure developers like you have the best possible experience using Nx. If you’ve never heard the term monorepo , you’ll want to pay close attention to this post. Monorepos have become increasingly popular as organizations look for more efficient ways to manage and collaborate with their code bases.
